Stony Brook University's School of Journalism Dean Howard Schneider and Associate Dean Marcy McGinnis hosted a select group of internationally respected journalists and media figures, university presidents and deans, high school teachers, foundation leaders and policy makers to discuss and provide a strategy on how to teach News Literacy to undergratuate and high school students at the first-ever national conference on News Literacy, March 11-13, 2009. The opening reception was held at President Shirley Strum Kenny's home and was hosted by her.
