Andrew Taylor

I love taking pictures of People although I try not to let that stop me trying out everything else when I get an opportunity. My first two cameras were an Exakta Ihagee 35mm and a Mamiya C33 2¼" square. I used the Mamiya for portraiture and the Exakta for "out 'n' about".

My present cameras are a Minolta DSLR D7 and kit, and a compact which I have on my belt at all times except when in my pyjamas, is a Panasonic Lumix TZ3. The latter gives a 35mm equivalent of 28mm to 280mm (optically at 7MPxls, more if I stop down the Megapixels) and has a Leica lens.

Now, at 70, I have decided that when the DSLR finally dies, I shall just stick with the Lumix.

I was brought up in South Africa, have spent three years in the USA and three years in France, and travelled extensively. I am married to Pam who, although she takes photographs, prefers painting pictures to taking them.

My nickname is Ampers which developed in the 'eighties, then I used to sign my name on the old Bulletin Boards as "&Roo". (And-Roo - Andrew.)

Russian Winter Festival

Russia comes to London each year on the second Saturday of January. I had thought of writing to Ken Livingstone and asking him to change this to a "Russian Summer Festival" as it is blerrie cold taking photographs at that time of the year.

I have always preferred taking people to scenes and I offer a selection of a few I have taken over the last few years.

Most of these were taken with either an Exakta Ihaagi 35mm film camera or with a two-and-a-quarter square Mamiya C33
