The jAlbum desktop app has an embedded ftp/sftp software that allows you to publish albums to any site. Here is how
Make sure you have made an album first
Now, press the Upload button. If you're signed in, jAlbum will at first assume you wish to publish to jalbum.net. A dialog window pops up showing the suggested location for your album. Press the "Change location" button.
If you aren't signed in when pressing the Upload button, you will be taken to step 2 right away
The Publish window now shows. jAlbum can store connection settings for several sites. To add your site, press the "Add" button of the Publish window
A dialog window shows. Select "Use an existing account on other server" and press ok.
Enter your ftp address, name and password. If you don't know what to enter here, ask those who run the web server for you. The ftp address is usually of the form ftp.yoursite.com or www.yoursite.com
There is an advanced button that allows you to connect using the "sftp" protocol if your server requires this. Here is also a setting called "Force UTF-8". Check that if you're having problem with foreign characters in file names.
You will now be presented with a list that represents the folders and albums already present on your server
jAlbum proposes a folder location for the album on your server. If you don't like this, just press ESC and select a new location. When you're ready, hit "Upload". To make jAlbum remember this location for future updates to this album, save the album project before quitting jAlbum.
Below the folder list, jAlbum displays the web address for the currently selected album or folder. If this address is wrong, you can correct it by right clicking the folder that represents the root of your web site and selecting "Mark as web root".
Your jAlbum is now online on your site. If you were signed in when publishing the album, jAlbum has also added a link to your album to your profile page at jalbum.net. jAlbum now presents a page with more options for your album, like sharing your album with friends through email, social networks and more. (You can always reach these options from your Albums page when you're signed in on http://jalbum.net.)
You can change the page displayed after publishing an album or disable the addition of published albums to your profile page at jalbum.net under Preferences->Publish.
