jAlbum 14 mutilates Lightroom comments

I process my photos in Lightroom and enter there too the comments / captions for my photos.
If these comment contains special characters like in Norrfällsvikken or André they are incorrect displayed in jAlbum 14, see jAlbum 14 and the PhotoSwipe skin, There is no problem with jAlbum 13, see jAlbum 13.10 and the Slide Show 4 skin

This makes jAlbum 14 in-usable for users of Lightroom in particular if your language contains many special characters like the Swedish or Norwegian language.

So as long as this problem has not been solved I can't use jAlbum 14.

So my question is:

Is it possible to insert the previous version of the metadata-extractor?

If not, I have to go back to jAlbum 13.10

It would be very hard to revert to the older version of metadata-extractor. Please attach one image that renders differently in v13 vs v14 and specify what you expect and what you get.

The picture I used in the example above has been enclosed.
Click on the links in my previous post to see what I expect (see jAlbum 13 link) and what I get in jAlbum 14 (the other link).

That is what I get with jAlbum v4:

Anything wrong?

I get the same result in jAlbum 13, but jAlbum 14 has a problem, see this post and this link.

And I think you see this only under Windows 10.

I used jAlbum v14 for generating this and it looks fine in Firefox v52.2.0 (64-Bit) : http://karlmistelberger.jalbum.net/testjAlbum/#img=150619-125305_Norrfallsvikken.jpg

Under which operating system?
My album shows the same bad caption both in FF and Google Chrome in Windows 10.

And in case you think the problem is caused by the skin code, click here to see part of the album made with Turtle. Click on the 3th thumb to see the same wrong caption text.

Your album looks bad in my browser too. Yet the data are UTF 8 according to Firefox graphics info.

You might have get some setting wrong. Watch for ISO 8859 settings and set them to UTF-8.

I don't know which operating systemn has such a long version number, but apparently it is not Windows 10!

I use UTF-8 see enclosed screen shot.

I see. As a quick test you may want to do exactly the following:
  • quit jAlbum
  • delete Sample Project
  • invoke jAlbum again
  • add 150619-125305_Norrfallsvikken.jpg to Sample Project
  • make and upload
The result should be: http://karlmistelberger.jalbum.net/Sample%20Portfolio/#150619-125305_Norrfallsvikken.jpg

Thanks Karl for your efforts to solve this problem, but I can't reproduce what you do, because you generate albums under Linux and I use Windows 10.

This is apparently a problem under Windows 10, not under Linux.

jAlbum being executed by the JVM which runs on top of an OS is often blamed for some malfunction which results from the software beneath.

This alleged bug is actually caused by the KDE GUI running on top of Linux and does not occur with GNOME GUI. Thus Linux, JVM and jAlbum work properly. But KDE is buggy and needed to be fixed.

Given the symptoms you reported and the expected results with Linux the most probable cause for your problems is Windows.

I only mentioned this as an example to illustrate what I said above. But actually it is bogus: update

André, I don't know how to reproduce this problem. I've tested on Win 10 too, works fine. the Swedish "ä" is there in all its glory in the final web page. I tested with Turtle and standard skin settings. I think you need to make a minimal album project that demonstrates this problem with this image, zip it and attach it here.
