After nearly 2 years of inactivity, Mirage version 8 is now available. Since today is my 29th wedding anniversary, I am naming it the "Anniversary Edition"; I hope nobody else chose this name while I was distracted.

This includes:
  • Major enhancements:
    • The YouTube IFrame Player is used.
    • Zoomify HTML5 is supported.
    • A slideshow can be played for variants.
    • Swiping is more reliable.
    • Improvements to the styles.
    • Chained Directories and HiDPI images are supported.
  • 7 minor enhancements
  • 16 bug fixes

I have been testing it for a few weeks; I think it is reliable. Details are in history.txt and the Mirage skin page.

You've been testing Mirage for a few weeks, and you're still married?! ;)

Congrats on both anniversary and the new version!

Quick test on Windows 10 Chrome, Edge and IE11 and Chrome on Android shows my panorama albums work fine.

The behaviour on Android has changed/improved!

Thank you!

Mirage 8 contains an old version of the documentation. This is fixed in 8.0.1. If you have already installed 8, you can get the documentation from Mirage.pdf.

That is encouraging. I have tested on an antique Android 4.1 phone. Which version of Android do you use?

Android 6 on tablet and phone. Works fine.

My use of Mirage is limited to single column index page and slide pages with panorama's, it is well suited for that purpose. Love the minimal interface I can achieve with that.

Here is an example: http://reizen.hansotten.nl/uploads/europa/nederland/weesp/panoweesp/index.html

with a modified slide.css for a little problem I see on the PC (Chrome, Edge), already present in older Mirage versions: the slide page does not scale to the window, so it gets scroll bar at the bottom. No problem on Android. Some setting I have missed?

I looked at slide.css and I changed this from:

.panorama_area {
border-color: #CACACA;
width: 2000px;
overflow-x: auto;
display: inline-block;

to

.panorama_area {
border-color: #CACACA;
width: 2000px;
display: inline-block;

This has the effect that the scrollbar on the bottom of the image disappears and the scrollbar on the bottom the page lets you scroll through the panorama.

Having one scrollbar instead of two is better, but scrolling only the image would be nicer to keep the top info on the same location.

It's good to know that it works on Android 6. I will update the documentation.

When I configured panoramas in Mirage, I used these criteria:
  • Sideways scrolling should not affect other page components (e.g. navigation buttons, comment, header, footer, variant thumbnail images). These will remain in the same positions.

If you select "Panorama" in the image settings, and configure the image bounds so that the image can fit in the window, you will only see 1 scroll bar.

If you set a very wide image bound, and do not select "Panorama" in the image settings, you will see the same layout as your example.

This is all dependent on the pixel width of your monitor. The album may look good on one monitor, but not on a different monitor that has a different resoluition. In the future, I will make Mirage responsive, but I don't know when this will happen.
