Copied into jAlbum/ext. I'll watch for console weirdness. Iit usually sneaks up on me, and I don't even notice it for a while, which makes it tough to report what I was doing at the time.

And another one that pops up from time to time, when I'm not even doing anything:

In this case, the referenced project wasn't open - in fact, I hadn't opened it in a couple of weeks. There was no open project when this console error appeared, and jAlbum wasn't even the active window - I was off in email and the browser, doing something else entirely.

Keeping score, the only two console errors I'm now seeing are this one, and the "can't open system clipboard" error reported above. That one also shows up when I'm not doing anything in jAlbum at all - it's just sitting there with no open project, no editor open, nothing - and I'm off in the browser or my own text editor, doing some copying and pasting.

Could that error be specific to Matrix perhaps? It seems skin specific at least. I cannot understand how the file C:\Users\JT\Documents\Matrix Samples\sidepanel\.jalbum\.info has made it into the URL path of the URLClassLoader used by that skin.

When you get that error again, please execute the following code snippet:
ClassLoader cl = engine.classLoader;
do {
  System.out.println("\n" + cl);
    if (cl instanceof URLClassLoader) {
    for (URL u : cl.getURLs()) {
      System.out.println(u);
    }
  }
} while ((cl = cl.getParent()) != null);
It should print something like this:

i.e, there should be no references to any path starting with "C:\Users\JT\Documents\Matrix Samples" there for instance.

I'll keep an eye on it and try to grab some diagnostic info when it happens again. This one is particularly mysterious - at the moment, Matrix isn't even my default skin, so I'm puzzled about why jAlbum is even looking at a random, closed project.

Probably not relevant, but the file referenced, DSC_0712.JPG.info, hasn't been modified in over three years, and consists of the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<java version="1.7.0_25" class="java.beans.XMLDecoder">
 <object class="java.util.HashMap">
  <void method="put">
   <string>locVidHeight</string>
   <int>315</int>
  </void>
  <void method="put">
   <string>locVidNative</string>
   <boolean>true</boolean>
  </void>
  <void method="put">
   <string>locVidWidth</string>
   <int>560</int>
  </void>
 </object>
</java>
Edit: One more tidbit - my default skin at the moment is Minimal.

Complete mystery to me :-( I hoped to find some reference to that .info file among the URLs listed, but the classpath URLs look fine.

It's very puzzling, indeed. Completely random - I can never reproduce it. Doesn't do any harm - it just produces a dump in the console. The heart of the mystery is why it's even looking at one of the .info files for a project that isn't open. It almost feels like some sort of buffer overflow error, where the results are utterly illogical.

The more common error is the "cannot open system clipboard" one. I see that one pretty regularly. It happens when jAlbum is open, but not doing anything - no editing going on, no album being built, nothing. At the same time, I'm out in Windows doing some copying and pasting - either in my own text editor, or even just copying and pasting files in File Explorer. It seems that another process in Windows is locking the clipboard. The mystery is why jAlbum, which should be just idling, is even trying to access the clipboard.

These are the only two console mysteries I've seen lately - the other ones appear to have been vanquished.

What's the "Last modification date" of your ext/MetadataCopier.jaext file? It should read 2015-12-02 and be 15487 bytes long.

Yup, that's the one I've got. In fact, I recently did a truly clean reinstall of jAlbum 13, and I have only a couple of self-installed things in the config directory - Copy file name to comment.bsh, Create lifeboat file.bsh (BTW, when is that finally going to become a simple checkbox under Pages, or Advanced > General, or maybe Tools, Preferences, Album, for those of us who routinely use FileZilla?), Create skin model file.bsh, Dashboard.jaext, and JTextPadContext.jaext.

Just got the error again, having done nothing other than launching jAlbum and asking it to show me the program directory:
Error reading xml metadata from C:\Users\JT\Documents\Temp Albums\hashedMatrixAuto\.jalbum\.info: java.lang.IllegalStateException: zip file closed
Followed by the same list of "at" lines (with nothing informative in them).

BTW, one consistent feature of this error is that the project in question is, in fact, in the project list on the left. It's not grabbing other projects from somewhere.

So what is jAlbum doing when it launches? Is it looking through the project list, and trying to grab information about them? It's obviously doing something, or it couldn't display thumbnails for them.

Yes, it's looking up representing thumbnails for these album projects. I don't see how that can affect class loading though...

I haven't seen any of these console errors in quite a while, and I've been doing a lot of the sorts of things that one might suspect were triggering them, like recompiling the skin UI while the skin is open in jAlbum (I'm either fearless, or a moron).

It would appear that changes made for other reasons (even possibly changes in Windows or Notetab Light, my favorite editor) have gotten rid of these weird little annoyances.

I'll mark this thread "answered." If I see any new occurrences, I'll try to pin them down, and start a new thread.
