Panorama shows sizing control in DT JA, but NOT in online Album

(Win10 Pro x64 JAlbum 17 x64 Java11)

When selected in the Desktop JAlbum, the Pic displays as a long thin strip.

It IS a .jpg (I removed the 2x2 compression as advised in another thread)

It is 35955x1594 px and approx 29Mb

A box is shown in the frame with a slider to resize the pic i.e. - fit to height.

Once this is done, the pic can be PANNED Left or right, by click-and-drag.

In the Online Album http://www.chrisnmiller.co.uk/gallery/

(select Coombestone Panorama folder), the pic simply displays as a strip

There is no resizing control, (double)-clicking or dragging does nothing,

and mousewheel moves to previous/next picture . . .

Is there something I've missed?

This is a classic "pano" problem. The image bounds in your album are 960x720. So, jAlbum resizes that image to fit within those bounds, and it ends up being 960x43 pixels. Not really the effect you were after!

You could just set the image bounds for the entire album to something like 20000x720 pixels. Contrary to your intuition, this would not turn every image into a wide, short image, since the aspect ratio is never mangled. You might want to try this, since it usually causes no other problems.

The other approach is to set the image bounds just for that one image to something larger. In the main jAlbum Explore window, double-click to open that image for editing, then go to the Variables panel on the right, and enter new bounds as shown in the attached screenshot. This is, by the way, very case-sensitive, so make sure you get the variable names right!

I've done a quick test, and this seems to behave itself with Tiger and Turtle - no guarantees with any other skins.

Edit the panorama in the Jalbum explorer and enter MaxImageWidth 2000 in the variables section.

Note the spelling, upper/lowercase!

To check if you did it right: look at the image file size and/or dimensions produced in the slides directory of the album before and after you enter the variable. This works fine in Turtle and many more skins.

Sorry, but you've got it wrong on both counts - dimension and spelling!

Not really. Just a few skins. Most will display the image within the viewport, with no scrolling.

To avoid manually entering user variables one could use this plug-in

It will even remember the last used values should you have more than one pano in the album.

Yup, maxImageWidth 20000 does the trick!

I think you should use for panoramic pictures a skin which implements special panorama viewers, like for instance the FancyBox skin, see this panorama test album.

Thank JG . . . . .

Changing the bounds for that Pic. seems to have done the trick -

I <made all> changes and when the Album displays, the panorama is

now full height when you double-click the folder - and you simply click

and drag to pan either way . . .

Magic!

I just need to amend my user instructions for that pic and upload to my

domain and check it works there . . . (I'll confirm in due course)

Many thanks ALL OF YOU - for your help.

Happy to report that my WebAlbum now carries the panorama changes you advised, along with my edits to the user instructions.

Many thanks JG and all you others who contributed!

Have a great Christmas and New Year . . . !
