I´ve removed an jalbum 11 installation so
C:\Program Files\jAlbum
did not exist before installation.

Installation of 15.2 was made into
C:\Program Files\jAlbum

each time I try
Tools -> Skin developer -> Edit skin files
jalbum crashes and reports the attached error logfile. The crash is independent from the chosen skin.

I´ve followed the complete instructions from
http://jalbum.net/forum/thread.jspa?threadID=35746&tstart=0
but still cannot edit any skin file within the program.

Can someone help?

Maybe David can spot the problem in the log file.

But one quick check: open your config directory - Tools, Open directories, Config directory. Is there an ext subdirectory there? If so, what files are in it?

That rules out the easy explanation. You'll have to wait for David to take a look.

This type of crash happens in the underlying Java engine. I've filed a bug report to Oracle about it. The report has id #9052870

Try this version of jAlbum, running on Java 8 until this has been resolved:

I´ve uninstalled the standard version and installed the Java 8 based jalbum 15.2.
Same result: crashes right after clicking on edit skin files.

Logfile is attached.

Any idea?

Until the problem is resolved you could edit the skin files in an external text editor, use Menu>Tools>Open directories>Skin directory or keyboard shortcut SHIFT + Cntrl + S to open the skin directory in your OS file system.

yep, that´s the workaround I´ve already applied - using notepad instead.

Thanks for testing with Java 8 too. I've examined these crash dumps again (the Java 9 and Java 8 one). The crash occurs when interacting with the printing system. Here's the key line:

sun.awt.windows.WPrinterJob.getDefaultPage

I assume that some configuration in your printer setup causes this crash within Java. It could naturally be a bug in Java, but we've reported it already. Try uninstalling and reinstalling your printer driver as a test.

David,
you´re right. Just changing my default printer to another device solved the problem.
It´s actually a printer device problem.

Thanks a lot.

Great! See if there is an updated device driver for your printer. It may help to file a bug report to the printer driver manufacturer if updating the printer driver doesn't help.
