Hi there,

I‘m running into issues showing the geo location of pictures using google maps.
The problem looks like mentioned in post
http://jalbum.net/forum/thread.jspa?messageID=319366

The situation is, within the index page google earth starts to load and shows map and location needles for a second. Then the map is replaces by the ( very helpfull… ) error message:
Oops! An error has occurred.
Google Maps was not loaded correctly on this page. For technical details, please refer to the JavaScript console.

For single pictures only a black window appears after clicking the map button.

I’m using a google api key that is not restricted to a certain domain like jGromit mentioned in post
https://jalbum.net/forum/thread.jspa?threadID=52348

For the next days there are two (unfinished) test sites showing the issue:
http://rabenhofer.net/island2017
http://rabenhofer.net/island2017_turtle

Further – maybe helpful - informations:
issue is the same for locally stored albums and online on my webspace
jAlbum 14.1.10 -Java 1.8, 64 bit (latest update)
Tiger 1.4.0
Turtle 5.6.3
Win10/64 (ver. 17003)
behaviour independent from used OS or browser (tested iOS11, Win10, Android, Linux; FF, Edge, Dolphin, AdblockBrowser, Safari)

(just FYI: Adobe Lr5 has a similar issue: broken google maps support)

best regards and thanks for support!

I just made a quick test album using my own unrestricted API Key, and it works fine. If I steal your API Key, I get the "Oops" error. So, either you've copied it incorrectly, or it is, in fact, domain restricted.

Thanks for your superfast reply!

I checked the API key on https://console.developers.google.com/….
and compared it to the copy in the Tiger skin Setup: it’s identic.
On the google site the key is marked with a yellow warning sign
This key is unrestricted. To prevent unauthorized use and quota theft, restrict your key.

So I went back to the Google Maps JavaScript API site and repeated the activation for Google Maps JavaScript API.
Now the API is marked as activated and the maps on test site work!

My fault – Sorry!
Should have seen this before ….

Thanks a lot for your help!

Glad you got it working! Google doesn't make things simple, do they? ;)
