Those of us using Macs can't use Quick Look to view .properties files even though they are plain text files. Quick Look works for any plain text file that has the extension .txt. I know it's a pain to change something like this, but could you change meta.properties to something like meta_properties.txt and so on for similarly names files? It would REALLY hlep me (and probably many other users too).

I would askt to not change that. If I need to edit a properties file, my text editor uses correct highlighting and formatting for property files when the extension is right.

Hi,

Are you certain that your editor is properly color coding the file based on the extension? If you change one of your .properties files to end with .txt does your editor lose the color coding? I'm wondering if your editor is recognizing the content of your file rather than the extension. Smart editors can do that. ;-)

Hi. No, I'm not intending to change the extension to .txt. These files are property text files and not just plain text files. XML files are also text files but usually have the .xml extension and never .txt anyway. To quickly look at these files, press CTRL+E within Jalbum, then drag and drop any .property file onto the window that opens.

Alternatively you can change the file "kind" to that of a text document, such as TextWrangler. After doing that Quicklook will display the file contents.

If you have a lot then use Automator, with only two actions needed!

1 Find Finder Items
Set the starting point to your main folder for Jalbum images
Set Extension contains properties

2 Change File Type and Creator
Set 'file type' to TEXT and 'creator' to !Rch

Run the workflow.

The Action 'Change File Type and Creator' can be downloaded from
http://www.completedigitalphotography.com/?p=365 or directly from here
http://www.completedigitalphotography.com/Features/OtherAutomatorActions/ChangeFileType&Creator.zip

TextWrangler can be downloaded from
http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/download.html

Both are free!
