Occasioned by the query of a user, in another thread, I took a look at the skins that claim to be able to play audio files. Most of them can't.
There are two feature attributes for a skin: Background music and Plays audio files. These are not the same thing. Background music is exactly what it says - the skin can take your MP3(s) and use it as background music for the album. A skin that can play audio files is different - it should create a thumbnail for the MP3, and produce a slide page (either as a separate page or in a lightbox) on which the user can play the MP3.
Here are the skins that say that they can play audio files, but actually can't:
BluPlusPlus - ignores MP3 object.
Clang - MP3 object can be used as background music, but not as a slide.
FancyBox - produces a thumbnail, but can't play the MP3.
Gridster - skin doesn't work at all with current jAlbum, so can't be tested.
horizontal - MP3 object can be used as background music, but not as a slide.
LightFlow - produces a thumbnail, but can't play the MP3.
Mr.Burn5 - inclusion of an MP3 breaks the slideshow.
Pages - produces a thumbnail, but can't play the MP3.
PhotoSwipe - produces a thumbnail, but can't play the MP3.
Slide Show 4 - produces a thumbnail, but can't play the MP3.
I'll leave it to the respective skin developers either to correct their skin listings, or show me that I've done something wrong. I did my testing with simple default settings. I'll ask Anders to take care of the orphans.

I included MP3 support in only one of my skins, and no one has ever asked for it in the others. It's an unusual thing for an album creator to want to do, so there doesn't seem to be much demand for it. And of course, if the album also includes background music, things can get ugly.
