Hi,
In my album, video is not showing location in google map, only for photos...
Is it possible to show where video is starting or something similar in google map?
Thanks in advance...
Br,
Filip

I believe the short answer is "no." There's no standard for storing GPS coordinates in a MP4 file, to say nothing of all the other video formats out there, so jAlbum doesn't really have a way of extracting them. I thought perhaps one could enter coordinates manually, using the Location panel in editing mode, but information entered there seems to vanish.

Might make for a good feature request. If GPS coordinates are entered manually, they could be stored in the .jalbum/whatever.mp4.info file, and the core could return them whenever a skin asked for the GPS coordinates for that object.

You mean in the last 21 hours? Um, no.

It's not currently supported. You could post it as a feature request.

I thought maybe this "location" option has a working solution...
Thanks anyway!

Br,

For the time being I take at least one image and add the GPS coordinates to that image using Digikam, which has a powerful tagging function:

So I can wait until somebody will create some exif equivalent for mp4 videos.

First, jAlbum has a tagging function that works. Why not use it?

Second, your suggestion results in a map marker that, when clicked, opens that image. It doesn't open the video, which I believe is what the poster wants. So, not a solution at all.

This is best answered by tagging a significant number of images with both jAlbum and Digikam.

Second, your suggestion results in a map marker that, when clicked, opens that image. It doesn't open the video, which I believe is what the poster wants. So, not a solution at all.

It is a solution for those who are willing to accept a functional alternative, but definitely not for jGromit.

How is it functional? As I said, it produces a map marker that does not take the visitor to the video. That's clearly non-functional.

The problem is event though jAlbum allows you to add location to Media files it forgets it right away. Perhaps the xmp library can't handle media files. Still jAlbum could utilize the slide variables to store it as you suggested above. Maybe David could come up with a solution.

Different visitors come up with different feedback:

Hallo Karl, heute [5.

The above is representative for an overwhelming fraction of comments to NeueBilder which uses the same layout as http://www.mistelberger.net/Tiger/2016-07-08/index.html Visitors appreciate the maps generated by Tiger and gpsvisualizer.com

Although no map marker points to the actual position where the video was taken most of the visitors are aware of the position when viewing the folder.

Another not implemented feature request, see here.

Edit:

The good news is that you can make a map with movies with my program Makemap which you can download from my download page.

Use this recipe:

  • Make the album with the movie
  • Move the corresponding video poster jpg image to the image directory
  • Include that poster image directly after the movie and temporarily exclude the movie
  • Geo-tag the poster image with the location panel. Don’t forget to close the edit window after geo-tagging the poster image.
  • Make the album again.
  • Use my program MakeMap to make the map.kml file.
  • Add the generated GoogleMap,html or map.kml file to a button for a Google Maps link.
  • Now delete the poster image, include the corresponding video again and make and upload the album.
To see an example of such an album made with the PhotoSwipe skin click here and next click the left Google Maps button and finally on the ‘Kerkplein’ marker on the left side of the map.
Click on the image to open the corresponding slide page and start the video.
