Hong Kong has been my home since 1965. The return of this former British colony to China in 1997 marked the third imperial retreat to which my three volumes of autobiography have testified. I'm still taking photographs, and still finding others I took long ago.
Dear Peter:
Looking forward to that first album of your new home.
Thanks Roger,
It may sound like the self-encouraging remark of a very small boy carrying a very small candle into a very dark room but I'm looking forward to what lies in store.
I would like to thank you all for your comments and feedback regarding my photos, your ones are outstanding too!
I wish you all a great day!!
I grew up in seria. The picture with Kevin and Margaret Voltz in Seria appears to be shot at the Panaga Club run by Brunei Shell for its senior staff. If memory serves me right, Margaret attended St Angela's when I attended St. Michael's. Brings back a lot of memories.
Good to hear from you. I'm still in touch with both Kevin (now in Australia) and Margaret (who lives in Canada) and can pass on their email addresses if you let me have yours. Mine is petermoss@yahoo.com
Three hundred Biblical cubits long, this recreation of the Ark on Park Island is built entirely of concrete, and will be no help at all if global warming really does make the waters rise again.
Photo #28: I am surprised to learn that our San Miguel brand had been around HKG that long? Reminds me of a Chinese guest in a hotel being asked what he wanted after summoning an in-house butler . He says to the butler: "Send me girl". Obligingly, a girl was sent to his room and he later complains to the hotel attendant: "I said, sen mi guer!" and shows him a bottle of the famous beer.
Photo #40: Whoa! ...being an HSE practitioner, this burning contributed to the depletion of our Ozone layer.
Yup, SanMig as we call it has been our staple beer for as long as I've been in Hong Kong, and while others have arrived since it remains my first choice.
