The photos I am now preparing to create into albums are from ten years of work with the Iglesia Presbiteriana Reformada en Cuba, particularly in El Centro Presbytery, although occasionally Havana and Matanzas churches may appear as well.

My hope is that you will enjoy this tour of the Presbyterian Churches there and visit the partnership's website at www.cubapartnership.org for more information.

Placetas in La Semana Santa 2010

jgwalter hochgeladen Placetas in La Semana Santa 2010 vor 3 Jahren

The photographs in this album were taken by Rev. John Potter of Wilminton, Deleware and Mr. Charles Miller who visited the IPRC Church in Placetas during Easter 2010 and on returning gave me copies of their photos to upload to this web site.

I'd like to thank John and Charlie for their gift as well as their solidarity with the Placetas community.

Sagua la Grande and Isabela

jgwalter hochgeladen Sagua la Grande and Isabela vor 3 Jahren

Pastor Marielys Diaz Aragón and I had been communicating via emails since the 2008. In November 2009 I had the chance to visit her church in Sagua la Grande for the first time.

I was enchanted.

During my two days in Sagua we also visited the fishing village called Isabela.

It too was marvelous.

I hope in time to add to this album. So stay tuned and drop by once and a while.

I still have not been able to upload certain fotos from the Centennial collections. Not really sure why. I added more today of the chorus which played such a vital role in the celebration. Enjoy.

The IPRC Church in Calabazar de Sagua

jgwalter hochgeladen The IPRC Church in Calabazar de Sagua vor 3 Jahren

Dalia Valdes, "Daisy", and I became fast friends in 2007 when we met in Sancti Spiritus. Dalia was then acting a outreach mission coordinator for El Centro Presbytery. The meeting in Sancti Spiritus was the first ever for the leaders of the outreach mission houses in El Centro. It was a time to talk, compare, pray, and learn from each other.

Later Dalia moved from Placetas to Calabazar de Sagua. I still remember her saying, "Juan, me debes una visita." ,,,and so in 2009, after the leadership meeting in Varadero, I made my way around past Santa Clara heading something northwest towards Calabazar de Sagua and then later Sagua la Grande.

It was time to "cumplir con mis deberes"...and I was more than happy to see Dalia again and share some time with her congregation.
