Basically I'm a space artist and writer, but I also love photography (In fact, back in the 80s I did all my own developing and printing, and became an ARPS -- Associate of the Royal Photographic Society!). But then the computer (Mac, of course) came along. . .
I also love travel, especially to solar eclipses; and to the workshops held in various 'alien' places by the IAAA – hence my latest set of photos (September 2011) from Arizona. . .
See my website: http://www.astroart.org and also my Facebook page.
I like to travel pretty light, so I use a Canon Powershot G10 digital compact. Its specs are pretty impressive, and I can recommend it!
I went to Iceland, with an old school friend, Barry Soden, at the end of March, hoping to see the Northern Lights. We didn't – but we did see the eruption that had just started on the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. I now realise how lucky we were, because of course now that eruption has become much worse, and is causing chaos with the airlines! As you see, we had sunny days and blue skies; but what the pictures can't show is that it was bitterly cold, with winds that blew right through you. . . It was still a wonderful trip, though, and thanks to Haukur Snorrason, our Icelandic guide and driver. Our small party also six young Belgians, but we got on well.
