@karhibou: No, you just need to be signed in to the software when making and publishing your album to your site. What happens (automatically) is that a link (thumbnail) to your album is added to your profile page here on jalbum.net. That's where you add widgets to your album, even if it's hosted on your site. Hope that makes sense. Try the steps provided by kristoffer and you'll see how it works.

1. When you start Jalbum make sure that you sign in.
2. Make your album.
3. Publish your album (to your hosting).
4. Go to your albums page on jalbum.net and click "Manage widgets" next to your album.

When you start Jalbum make sure that you sign in (and stay signed in while you make and publish your album). This will make sure that the necessary Widget code is inserted into your album when you make it and this will also make sure that a link to your published album is being added to your list of albums on the jalbum.net community site. So basically, you can host your album anywhere and still use widgets, but there needs to be a link to your album on your jalbum.net albums page (http://jalbum.net/users/karhibou/).
