We have recently released JAlbum 7.2. I'd like to take the time to tell you about some of the things we have focused on this time.
Better ordering
For years users have been wanting more flexible image and folder ordering. Imagine you have one album folder for each event/trip you make. It would then be handy to have the album folders ordered by reverse date - the last one first, but at the same time have images within each folder ordered by date. Before JAlbum 7.2 you had to make such an arrangement manually, but now JAlbum can keep folders automatically ordered as you like, and images ordered as you like. Another improvement is that JAlbum remembers the ordering on a per-folder basis so as you add new images to your computer, they become ordered automatically. No need to order them again.
Mp3 background music
I believe the right kind of background music really adds a dimension to some web based slide shows. Some JAlbum skins provide the ability to add background music, but this hasn't been that easy in practice. In order to simplify matters we've now equipped JAlbum with an embedded mp3 player and a playlist control. Skins that allow background music can now use this playlist to allow you - the album maker, to easily add, pre-listen and arrange music for their final slide shows. (The final slide shows don't use the embedded mp3 player, they usually rely on a Flash based player). So far the "Slide show" and "FotoPlayer" skins make use of this playlist. I hope more are to follow.
Improved publishing
We've made a number of small enhancements to the publishing window of JAlbum. Apart from various bug fixes, the most notable improvement is that you can now drag and drop folders on the server to rearrange your albums after you've published them.
